Overview: The Drafting course is designed to help the student effectively communicate a design intent through the use of CAD drawings. How to start the creation of a drawing utilizing templates or a blank file as well as the pros and cons of Master Model is first discussed. Several topics to ensure the specific elements to detail are only shown are discussed. Once a drawing sheet is created, how to add the many view types including Base, Project, Section, and Detail Views are covered. After views, creating dimensions, notes, labels, and tables are taught. This area of the course contains many subtopics such as appended text, tolerances, arrowheads, fonts, etc. Therefore, Drafting Standards and Preferences are discussed to simplify and assure conformity. Students will learn about utility symbols, ID symbols, weld symbols, and custom symbols in the Symbols unit. The creation of assembly drawings is also included. Assembly drafting functions such as Explosions, exploded views, tracelines, parts lists, and render sets are all part of these discussions.
